Genshai Books - The Gift

At Genshai, we believe that no one should ever feel small—not in life, not in learning, and certainly not when it comes to reading. The Genshai Literacy Initiative was created to open doors for children, teens, and communities by giving them the gift of literacy.

Reading is more than a classroom skill. It’s the foundation for building self-worth, connecting with others, and imagining new possibilities. When a child learns to read with confidence, they don’t just discover words—they discover themselves.

The Genshai Literacy Initiative exists to:

Our Programs

Genshai Grandparents

Elders from our communities read aloud to children in schools, libraries, shelters, and online spaces. Their time, voices, and stories help young readers feel seen, valued, and encouraged. Read More about Genshai Grandparents Program.

Community Partnerships

We work side by side with schools, after-school programs, shelters, and literacy organizations to strengthen access to books, learning spaces, and reading support.

Reading Support

From early learners to developing readers, we provide encouragement and resources that help children grow with confidence and joy.
