You are being asked to add something extra to your grocery list this weekend, potatoes.

The annual Supermarket Potato Blitz goes Saturday, Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

It supports the House of Friendship’s Emergency Food Hampers.

The blitz is held at almost 30 stores and is also supported by businesses, schools and faith communities throughout the entire month.

The Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank will also run their own Supermarket Blitz to benefit residents of that city.

Potatoes or cash donations can be dropped off at the following locations:

Zehrs Markets (seven K-W locations)

Sobeys (six K-W locations)

Food Basics (five K-W locations)

FreshCo (three K-W locations)

Real Canadian Super Store

Valu-Mart (Waterloo Town Square and Frederick Street Mall)

Central Fresh Market

No Frills – Strasburg Rd.

Elmira Foodland

Giant Tiger

You can check out the Potato Blitz page for more info.
