Golden Empire Transit and partners Community Action Partnership of Kern and Self-Help Federal Credit Union will distribute food on Jan. 10.

Food will be handed out beginning at 9 a.m. at 22nd and Eye streets, at the GET Downtown Transit Center.

The event will also feature a Resource Fair with various organizations taking part.

Participants will be given one bag full of canned goods, but need to bring additional bags for bread and fresh fruit and vegetables that can hold up to 70 pounds or more.

There will be people on hand to help carry the bags to participants’ cars, Deekay Fox, GET’s marketing manager, said.

The food distribution events are a regular occurrence for GET.

“We have a goal of distributing food four times a year to impact lives of people who don’t know where their next meal is coming from.” said GET CEO Karen King.
