It’s the time of year for college students to face finals. But students at Suffolk University in Boston have found a few great ways to relax.
Finals week has been filled with Red Sox players, puppies, essential oils and positivity. Suffolk University and its students are helping each other relax during the stressful time.
“Puppies, World Series champions, can’t get much better than that, for relaxing from school, taking our mind off school for a little bit,” said Suffolk student Worth Waldron.
The school’s student-run Program Council also hosted a relaxation event full of free food, essential oils, coloring books and pillow making to help students de-stress.
“This event is not only a good way to relieve stress, but it’s also a great way to connect with other students on campus who are also feeling the same way and also want to relieve stress,” said Leah Grannum, co-chair of the Program Council.
Clevis Murray also reminds his fellow students to focus on self care during finals week.
“There’s bigger things in life, just to relax and it will come easy. As long as you study and take care of yourself,” Murray said. ‘self-care is one of the most important things out there.”
Marketing students at Suffolk are also coming together to promote mental health awareness and positivity throughout the school and Boston with the Good Day Project.
“We thought to ourselves and said, especially around finals time, this is such an important time to be talking about this and raising awareness for this because it’s so misunderstood and not acknowledged enough within the community,” said Ariana Malcom, public relations manager of the Good Day Project.
You can also receive daily positive messages from the project.
“That’ll send, for about a week, just really good, positive messages, such as ‘Life is tough, but so are you,’ to really bring up people’s spirits and to let them know that we are here and we care,” Malcom said.
The puppies are available to adopt. Click here to find out more.
